|Through all the Changing Scenes of Life|
Author: Patricia Tasker
William Edward Jones was in his eighties when he decided to write down his memories in three journals detailing a personal history from the 19th century up until 1965.
These journals, and the old family Bible in which William made copious notes during the latter years of his life, helped Patricia Tasker gain a better understanding of her grandad.
This book brings William's journals and Bible jottings, along with his scribbled drawings and collection of images from his past, together into one volume in which he demonstrates how the 'life with a capital L' that he craved as a young man came to pass.
In sharing his memories, William takes the reader on the journey of an ordinary man whose life spanned two centuries eclipsed by epic world events and whose character was shaped by the people and places that formed the fabric of his life from his early years in Bosbury in Herefordshire, to the war-torn beaches of Gallipoli and the frozen wastes of Murmansk, through to later years in his beloved Caerleon and Newport.
Patricia Tasker was born in Newport and joined the WRAF as an M.T. driver, meeting her husband and sharing a happy life as they travelled overseas together.
In publishing a fascinating and very readable insight into times long past, Patricia was ably assisted in editing her grandfather’s journals by Susan Harrison, a Daily Mail journalist of long standing.
